North Korea threatened on Friday to take “physical counter-measures” against South Korea over sanctions passed against Pyongyang by the UN Security Council this week.
“If the South Korean puppet regime of traitors directly participates in the so-called UN sanctions, strong physical counter-measures would be taken,” the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said.
South Korea is a member of the 15-nation council, which passed the sanctions unanimously on Tuesday. It was joined in its yes vote by the United States, which North Korea on Thursday called its “sworn enemy,” as well as China, North Korea’s main ally.
Pyongyang has issued daily statements since the sanctions were passed to punish it for a December 12 launch of a long-range rocket.
