Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf says he never struck an agreement with the United States to let American special forces kill or capture Osama bin Laden inside Pakistan.

Gen. Musharraf’s spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that news reports claiming Gen. Musharraf and the administration of former U.S. President George W. Bush had such an understanding are baseless.

Mr. Chaudhry says no such agreement was signed during Gen. Musharraf’s tenure and there wasn’t a verbal understanding either.

Gen. Musharraf’s spokesman says Gen. Musharraf always rejected U.S. requests to launch raids in Pakistan. Mr. Chaudhry spoke from Dubai where the former military ruler is staying.

U.S. Navy SEALS raided bin Laden’s Pakistani hideout on May 2 and killed the world’s most wanted terrorist.
