Rupert Murdoch’s newspapers in Britain are cutting 110 staff jobs, hitting all three of its titles.
News International, a unit of Murdoch’s News Corp., said Tuesday that chief executive Tom Mockridge had informed the staff of the cuts in an internal memo.
The company also said that 89 former employees of the Sunday tabloid News of the World had accepted settlements to resign.
The News of the World was shut down in July as allegations of illegal phone hacking exploded.
News International did not release Mr. Mockridge’s memo, reported earlier by The Guardian newspaper, but did confirm details.
Mr. Mockridge said the cuts would come from some 3,000 employees of The Sun , The Times and The Sunday Times .
