The 10-member parliamentary delegation from Tamil Nadu on Sunday travelled to Jaffna and visited government-run camps for those displaced in the war, in Vavuniya district.

As per local media in Jaffna and Vavunia and government sources in Jaffna, the delegation leader, T.R. Baalu, at a gathering, called for the early release of the displaced people housed in camps and said a durable political solution was needed to the ethnic conflict in the island nation.

Mr. Baalu maintained that the Sri Lankan and Indian Tamils had a strong bond, a relationship which was also reflected in the ties between India and Sri Lanka.
