Most people in Britain would like Prince William to become the country’s next king, rather than his father Prince Charles, who is next in line, according to a media report.

The Daily Mail report, however, said that this is not going to happen as courtiers believe that Prince Charles is determined to succeed Queen Elizabeth II.

The report, however, did not give any details of the opinion polls.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla earned warm public sympathy last week when their car was assaulted by rioting student demonstrators in London.

However, according to the report, the Queen’s triumph — and that of Prince Philip, whose achievement is often underrated — has been rooted in a discipline that Prince Charles utterly lacks.
