Moderate tremors were felt in parts of China today, but no casualties were reported so far.
A 4.4 magnitude earthquake hit the border between Luodian County of southwest China’s Guizhou Province and Tian’e County of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region 6:07 pm today, according to a statement from Guizhou’s seismic network.
The quake centred 25.2 degrees north latitude and 106.8 degrees east longitude, it added.
Strong tremor was felt in Luodian’s county seat, 20 km from the epicentre, county head Sha Xiangui said.
Rescuers are rushing to the quake zone where about 603 people of 133 families live.
No casualties were reported so far, official Xinhua quoted Sha as saying.
Also a magnitude-3.1 quake hit Dongchuan District of Kunming City, capital of Yunnan, China National Seismic Network said.
Yunnan, Guangxi and Guizhou are three neighboring areas.
