Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has condoled the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, saying that he changed the world by ushering in a new digital era.

“People like Steve Jobs change our world,” Mr. Medvedev wrote in his Twitter micro blog.

“I am conveying my sincere condolences to his relatives and everyone who appreciated his smartness and talent,” the Russian leader wrote.

During his U.S. visit in 2010, Mr. Medvedev had met Mr. Jobs in Silicon Valley, where the technocrat had presented him an iPhone, which the Russian leader later gave away to his teenage son, probably under pressure from security service.

However, Mr. Medvedev can always be seen with his iPad, one of the most popular Apple gadgets developed under the stewardship of Mr. Jobs.
