Swedish police say they have arrested a 21-year-old man for an attempted arson attack against the home of an artist who angered Muslims with a drawing of the Prophet Muhammad.
Police spokesman Joakim Ekstrand says the man was arrested at his home late Saturday on suspicion of attempted arson. Police on Saturday discovered bottles filled with gasoline and minor fire damage at artist Lars Vilks’ home in Nyhamnslage, southern Sweden.
The artist has faced several threats over his drawing and U.S. investigators say he was the target of the alleged “Jihad Jane” murder plot.
Mr. Ekstrand said on Sunday that evidence at Mr. Vilks’ house led police to the suspect, but wouldn’t give more details.
