Making America hate again

Records indicate a sharp increase in hate crimes since Donald Trump’s victory.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s statistics on hate crimes in the U.S. showed a drop in incidents from 2010 but an uptick in 2015.

The Souther Poverty Law Center has tabulated 1372 hate crimes between November 9, 2016 (the day after U.S. presidential elections) and February 7, 2017, indicating a sharp increase since Donald Trump’s victory.

Hate crimes against Muslims - 257 incidents - rose 67% from 2014 to 2015. These were the highest since 2001 when 480 hate crime incidents occurred in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
