April 09, 2015 12:15 am | Updated 12:15 am IST - London:

Lord Swraj Paul, Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton, has donated £1 million to the University, the largest donation in its history.

The India-born peer, who is also Chairman of Caparo, the steel product manufacturing company, gave the donation from the Ambika Paul Foundation, the charitable trust that he established in the memory of his daughter.

In the press statement released on the occasion, Lord Paul is quoted as saying, “This gift is dedicated to her memory; but it is also a way of giving something back to the community, and specifically young people. The Ambika Paul Foundation has one very specific mission: to enhance the lives of the next generation through education, culture and health.” The donation will be used by the University to improve upon student experience. The actual initiatives are currently being finalised.
