Lee Kuan Yew, founder of modern Singapore, has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment of a chest infection, local media reported on Thursday.
Lee, the city state’s first prime minister, was admitted to the Singapore General Hospital late yesterday, according to a report in the Straits Times. Lee, 87, has stayed active in national affairs after stepping down as premier in 1990s.
