Italian, Iranian among nine killed in blast

An Italian women and an Iranian student were among the nine persons killed in the blast in the German Bakery in Pune here. All the nine persons killed have been identified, City Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said.

An Italian women and an Iranian student were among the nine persons killed in the blast in the German Bakery in Pune here.

All the nine persons killed have been identified, City Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said, adding 60 people were injured in the blast at the bakery located at the posh Koregaon park area.

The deceased foreigners were Nadia Macerini from Italy and Syed Abdul Khari, an Iranian who was a student at the Symbiosis Institute here, Mr. Singh said.

The deceased have been identified as a brother-sister duo — Ankit and Aanandi Dhar from Kolkata, T. Sundari (Bangalore), Vinita Gadani (Mumbai), Shilpa Goenka (Kolkata), Shankar Pansary (Pune) and Gokul Nepali — a waiter at the bakery.

Among the twelve injured foreigners, five are from Iran, two Sudanese, two Nepalese, one each are from Yemen, Taiwan and Germany, Mr. Singh told reporters at a press conference here.
