Israeli war jets on Saturday struck two targets in the Hamas—ruled Gaza Strip with air—to—ground missiles that caused damage, but no injuries, the Israeli army confirmed.
Witnesses on the ground said that the missiles hit the inoperative Gaza Airport, near the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah. The airport has been repeatedly targeted since it became inoperative in 2000.
The Israeli war jets had also struck Gaza City’s downtown, launching two missiles and destroying a commercial area. No injuries were reported.
An Israeli army spokesman said in a press statement sent to reporters that the two aerial attacks came in response to an earlier homemade rocket attack carried out by Gaza gunmen at southern Israel.
No one had claimed responsibility in Gaza for the attack against the southern Israeli town of Sderout. No injuries or damages were reported, according to Israel Radio.
