Israeli troops raid West Bank TV station

February 29, 2012 02:00 pm | Updated 02:00 pm IST - RAMALLAH

A Palestinian broadcaster says Israeli troops raided his TV station, seizing transmission equipment, computers and documents.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment.

The station’s director, Moammar Orabi, says about 30 soldiers raided his al-Watan TV in the city of Ramallah before dawn on Wednesday. The TV is an outlet for Palestinian citizens groups.

Mr. Orabi says an Israeli officer told station employees to “say hello to Khader Adnan.”

Mr. Adnan is a Palestinian detainee who waged a hunger strike for more than two months to protest being held without formal charges.

Ramallah is part of the Palestinian self-rule areas, but Israeli forces still routinely conduct raids there.
