Israel’s Barzilai hospital says a member of the French foreign minister’s entourage has been hit in the head by Palestinian protesters during a visit to the Gaza Strip.

Her identity was not immediately available. The office of hospital spokeswoman Lea Malul says the delegate is being examined at the hospital in the Israeli city of Ashkelon.

Dozens of furious Palestinians pelted Foreign Minister Michele Alliot-Marie’s motorcade Friday with eggs and narrowly missed her with a lobbed shoe.

Ms. Malul earlier said the foreign minister was hit but later corrected that statement.
