Israel’s security cabinet on Friday discussed a new ceasefire proposal for Gaza from US Secretary of State John Kerry, Israeli radio reported.

The proposal includes a break in hostilities lasting few days, during which Israeli forces could continue to destroy tunnels in Gaza used for attacks against Israel, the report said.

Leaders of Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, have continued to press Egypt for an easing of the blockade on the coastal enclave, the radio report said.
