The IOC headquarters has been closed after flooding caused by a burst water main.

Water invaded the ground floor and basement level of the International Olympic Committee offices after the water main burst on Sunday near the building in the lakeside Vidy area of Lausanne.

IOC staff were working on Monday from home and temporary offices in another part of Lausanne.

The extent of damage wasn’t immediately clear. The IOC’s archives are stored on the basement level, which was under one meter of water. Meeting rooms and kitchens were also badly affected.

IOC president Jacques Rogge was in Paris on Monday speaking at an anti-doping symposium.
