India's position on Kashmir is ‘untenable, illegal and amoral'
Describing India's position on Kashmir as “untenable, illegal and amoral,” Pakistan on Thursday said a Foreign Minister-level engagement with India could not take place in New York because of “India's inflexibility.”
‘Can't become indifferent'
Asked for a response to External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna's statement that Pakistan should not “impart lessons to us on democracy and human rights” — with reference to his counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi's Kashmir-related remarks at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) — Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said: “No doubt, Pakistan is facing domestic difficulties, but so is India. That does not mean we become indifferent and not raise our voice against grisly oppression and grave violations of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Side-stepping a question on whether the UNGA had proved to be a debacle as far as Indo-Pak relations were concerned, Mr. Basit reiterated Pakistan's stated position that it wanted to engage with India in a sustained and meaningful dialogue which included all issues, especially the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir. “We are not interested in photo-ops. The ball is in India's court,” he said.
Refusing to divulge details on why the two ministers could not have a bilateral engagement in New York, Mr. Basit's reply to the possibility of mediation by the United States was that while Pakistan was not averse to third-party intervention, “we are aware of India's position on this.”
He added that it was unfortunate that even bilaterally, India was not serious about result-oriented negotiations.
No official word
Though there was no official word on why the talks did not take place, sources claimed it was because India was unwilling to accept Pakistan's suggestion of a Foreign Secretary-level engagement ahead of the proposed ministerial meeting in India, to which Mr. Krishna has invited Mr. Qureshi more than once.

Pakistan will never learn / learnt the lession form it's past experience and hence it will suffer in course of time which will ruin their people and its supporing nations. Time has come for USA to understand the charector of double game play in dealing with Usama-bin laden.
Quite laughable for Pak to say India is inflexible. Why has Qureshi still not accepted Krishna's double invitation to meet him ?
Also very hypocritical for Pak to talk about inflexibility when everyone knows how inflexible THEY have been on the matter of handing over terrorists who operate with the open sanction of both the Govt and the ISI
It is not the right time for high profile India-Pakistan meetings, which have been doomed to failure. Any talks should be quiet, away from the limelight, until there has been a tangible breakthrough. This sort of grandstanding just does not help.
For Pakistan the ball is always on someone else court, and never in their court.
SIR I REQUEST THE UNITED NATION NOT TO INTERVENE ON KASHMIR ISSUE.AND BE GIVEN FULL SUPPORT TO INDIA TO GIVE THE RIGHT STATEMENT OVER KASHMIR IN NEWYORK SO THAT DISPUTE BETWEEN THESE TWO COUNTRIES MAY BE TERMINATED.
i respect the statement given by Mr. krishna on kasmir issue in AMERICA.PAKISTAN never think of kashmir region, its only the part of India.this should be decleared in NEWYORK too.due to unfavourable support to pakistan as all over the nation known, india not able to gain his power over kashmir.today allahabad verdict is in favour of indians as statement published by high court"RAMMANDIR KO TODKAR MAJID BANAYA GAYA"and given the decision in favour of indian .it is the good sign of victory.and situation is in favour of indians so that indian will gain power over kashmir in coming days,if no other countries involve in this matter.SHINE INDIA
pakistan should deprived against india's statement on any issue.
Don't blame India's inflexibility. We are a democratic country and as flexible as possible. In fact if we weren't that flexible, Pakistan's immoral ambitions would have been annihilated longtime back. It is not India's inflexibility but its patience you are trying. Don't blame India for pakistan's incompetence, failure as a nation and for being the only certified country/school for terrorists. That is what all losers like pakistan do. Instead of solving issues they keep crying and whining all the time.
