Twenty-four Indian citizens, who were detained in Malaysia last week, are understood to be treated as possible victims of trafficking in persons and not as illegal migrants. They are being held at a special facility for such victims, and New Delhi is seeking their expeditious return home, according to sources.

Ipoh police said that the 24 Indians, all from Uttar Pradesh, were detected during a security raid on a house, following a tip-off.
