Gunmen inside Pakistan federal building: official

An official says gunmen are firing inside a federal building in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore.

Chaudhry Mansoor of the Federal Investigation Agency says he can hear the shots in the facility Thursday morning.

The FIA is the premier civil federal law enforcement agency. It investigates matters relating to immigration and terrorism.

Another employee, Mohammad Riaz, told The Associated Press over the phone that he can see two people who have been shot, but does not know who they are.

Pakistan has experienced a wave of attacks in the past two weeks that have killed scores. A suicide attack Thursday morning in the northwest killed eight people at a police station.
