Greek military officials say a fighter plane crashed into the eastern Aegean Sea during an exercise but both pilots safely ejected.

The Air Force said in a statement that the Mirage 2000 jet lost power as it was flying between the islands of Samos and Fourni on Thursday.

It says the pilots were picked up by a military vessel in the area and were in good health.

The French—made fighter had taken off from an air base in central Greece. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
