Google marked the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with an interactive video doodle. The video shows scenes of the breaking down of the Berlin Wall and Berliners greeting one another in 1989. The video also shows pieces of the fallen Wall that are around the world: in London, Seoul, Cape Town, Madrid, Budapest, Kiev, Washington DC, Brussels, New York, Berlin among others

Constructed by the Communist German Democratic Republic (GDR), it came to symbolise the ‘Iron Curtain’ that divided Western and Eastern Europe during the Cold War.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the fall, a special light installation will be set up along its former course as a ‘symbol of hope for a world without walls’.
