The former Prime Minister of Nepal and Nepali Congress president, Girija Prasad Koirala, fell ill on Sunday after water accumulated in his lungs. He will be taken to Singapore for treatment.

The 86-year-old is also suffering from cold and fever, his aide Suresh Chalise told PTI .

Mr. Koirala will be taken to Singapore for medical check-up as per the advice of his personal doctors, Mr. Chalise said.

There was no cause for worry, he added. Mr. Koirala was Prime Minister for four times — 1991-1994, 1998-1999, 2000-2001, 2006-2008.
