A woman of Indian origin has been charged in connection with the attack on Lieutenant General (retired) Kuldip Singh Brar in central London last September, bringing the number of those charged to four.
Harjit Kaur (38) was produced at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with “wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm” to Gen. Brar.
Others charged in the case include Barjinder Singh Sangha (33); Mandeep Singh Sandhu (34); and Dilbag Singh (36).
Police said Sangha has already pleaded guilty to the charge of attacking Gen. Brar and would be sentenced after the conclusion of the trial of others accused in the case.
Gen. Brar was attacked by four men when he and his wife were returning to their hotel in Oxford Street after dinner on the night of September 30. His wife Meena was also attacked when she tried to intervene.
He alleged that Khalistani sympathisers were behind the attack for his role in the controversial 1984 “Operation Blue Star” to remove militants from the Golden Temple Complex.
He described the attack as a “pure assassination attempt”.
