Eleven people, including eight children, died late Thursday in a remote village in China’s south-central Hunan province when a bus taking kindergarten students home crashed into a pond, Xinhua news agency reported.
The accident occurred in a thinly populated mountainous area, and it was not immediately discovered. Rescue crews reached the site many hours later and were able to haul the minibus out of the pond, the report said.
Two teachers and the driver also died, according to the report.
