National Security Adviser Ajit Doval confirmed that President Pranab Mukherjee will be visiting China in May, following the stepped-up engagement between New Delhi and Beijing after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China last May. In his opening remarks during his call on Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Mr. Doval referred to a “series” of high level meetings in recent months as a signal of intensifying ties. “Now we are looking forward to the visit of the President of India shortly next month.” The Hindu had reported on Thursday that President Mukherjee would travel to Beijing in May end.
