In view of what it called ‘increasing acts of intimidation against Sri Lankan nationals in Tamil Nadu,’ Sri Lanka has issued a travel advisory to its citizens against visiting Tamil Nadu.

In a release issued on Monday night, the government requested “…Sri Lankan nationals in the interest of their security to desist from undertaking visits to Tamil Nadu until further notice.” If there is a compelling reason to visit Tamil Nadu, they should give timely intimation to the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai.

The release, issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, said Sri Lanka regretted the “increasing instances of intimidation” of its nationals visiting Tamil Nadu for tourism, religious pilgrimages, sporting and cultural activities and professional training.
