Despite China having a no-nonsense policy on pornography in all its forms, obscene material is easy to find in the country.

More than 22,000 pornographic sites have been shut down in China this year, authorities said on Thursday.

Over 1.75 million items were deleted in 390 cases, the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications said in a statement.

The campaign has focused on major cases, the office said, adding that more than 50 cases are currently being processed across the country.

But sleaze is still easy to find

Despite the progress in restraining the spread of pornography, it is still easy to find, harming the physical and mental health of juveniles, an official said.

Pornography must be dealt with as soon as it is spotted, the official said, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
