Cameron calls for a ‘calm’ response

September 16, 2014 01:01 am | Updated December 04, 2021 11:04 pm IST - LONDON:

Prime Minister David Cameron promised to “hunt down” the militants of Islamic State (IS) who beheaded a British aid worker in Syria, “however long it takes.”

David Haines (44), who was killed on September 13 was captured nearly two years ago. He was the third foreign hostage to be killed by the IS in a staged beheading on video. The Islamists have issued a warning that Alan Henning (47), also a British aid worker who was captured in Syria this January, is their next target.

Mr. Cameron has held back from announcing any concrete retaliatory measures. He turned down the demand by some MPs to recall Parliament, currently suspended for the Scottish referendum, instead calling for a “calm, deliberate” response.
