The BBC is reporting that former News International executive Rebekah Brooks will testify to a parliamentary committee examining the phone hacking scandal.
Ms. Brooks once edited the News of the World tabloid, where the offenses allegedly occurred.
She was arrested on Sunday on hacking charges, so her appearance had been in question. Rupert and James Murdoch are to be grilled by British Members of Parliament on Tuesday over the scandal.
Questions over arrest: Lawyer
Meanwhile, the lawyer for Ms. Brooks said on Monday that she was not guilty of any criminal offense, and police faced serious questions about why she was arrested on suspicion of phone hacking and bribery.
Lawyer Stephen Parkinson said Ms. Brooks was held and questioned for nine hours on Sunday, but detectives did not accuse her of any crimes.
He said that police would “have to give an account of their actions” considering “the enormous repuational damage” Ms. Brooks’ arrest had caused.
