A British citizen of Pakistani origin was robbed and his six—year—old son kidnapped during his holidays in Pakistan’s eastern province of Punjab, a police official said on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Jehlum, 120 kilometres south—east of Islamabad, when four armed men forced their way into the house of Raja Naqash Saeed after he left the gate open to let a taxi in.

“They ransacked the house, put the stolen items and the boy in the taxi and drove away,” a local police official, Abdul Mateen, said.

Mr. Saeed said he and other family members were assaulted during the attack. The kidnappers had yet to contact him about ransom for his son, he said, but he expected a call from them on Thursday.

Mr. Saeed lives in Oldham in the greater Manchester area.
