Gatwick Airport is closed for a second straight day as freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall continue to disrupt Britain’s transport networks.

Officials at Gatwick, one of Britain’s busiest airports, said on Thursday that staff are working to resume operations but conditions have deteriorated “considerably.” The airport is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day, while Edinburgh Airport and London’s City Airport are also closed for the morning.

Rail and road travellers are facing severe delays as snow continues to fall. Motorists have been stranded across the country overnight, and transport officials say they are launching a review of how the U.K.’s systems have coped with the big freeze amid mounting criticism of their response.
