Bangladesh Police said that at least 15 people have been injured in a bomb attack on a ruling party lawmaker in central Dhaka.

Police official Khandakar Mahiduddin says Fazle Noor Taposh, a lawmaker from the ruling Awami League party, escaped unhurt in the attack on late Wednesday.

The official says unidentified attackers hurled a bomb at Taposh as he was getting into his car outside his office in Dhaka’s Motijheel district.

He says Taposh was unhurt but that the blast injured 15 activists of his party who were there to see him off. He says Taposh fled in his car, which was slightly damaged.

Police are investigating the motive of the attack.
