A loud explosion rocked the Capital on Wednesday night, but there were no casualties. The blast took place at the parking lot of the Jinnah Super Market.
The explosion was loud enough to be heard across the small city and drew onlookers, even as security personnel tried to decongest the area for fear of more blasts. Ambulances which rushed to the spot returned empty, as the bomb squad was called in to examine the site.
Television channels quoted Interior Minister Rehman Malik as stating that the blast — which caused a small crater — was of “low intensity.”
