At least six people were killed in a blast in the Nowshera area of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa (formerly North-West Frontier Province) on Monday afternoon. The blast is being billed as an attempt on the life of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti and the senior leadership of the Awami National Party (ANP) as the bomb went off just after they left the area after addressing a party rally.

According to the police, the bomb was planted on a motorcycle and detonated with a remote control as people were leaving the venue.
