An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale today jolted the Yushu prefecture in China’s north-western Qinghai Province, the China Earthquake Networks Centre said.

The epicentre of the quake was monitored at 32.4 degrees north latitude and 95.9 degrees east longitude with a depth of 10 km, the centre said in a statement.

The Yushu prefecture was struck by a 7.1-magnitude earthquake last April in about 2,700 people were killed.
