You have caught the imagination of millions across the world, including the people of India who are anxiously waiting for your visit. This is what Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told U.S. President Barack Obama during their 50-minute talks on the sidelines of the Nuclear Safety Summit on Sunday.

Dr. Singh said “the President had caught the imagination of millions around the world, including the people of India who were anxious to see him soon in our country”, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao told reporters here.

India has extended an invitation to Mr. Obama to visit the country which is expected to take place later this year.

“Our Prime Minister said that we in India were looking forward eagerly to the visit of President and Mrs Obama to India later this year,” Ms. Rao said.

“A visit is definitely planned for this year. We do not have dates as yet but both Governments are working on that,” she said.

“We were greatly looking forward to this visit,” Dr. Singh was quoted as telling Mr. Obama.
