A group of over 80 humanitarian organizations says the blockade that Israel and Egypt imposed on Gaza has undermined the territory’s health care system.
The aid agencies - including U.N. agencies and the Association for International Development Agencies - say the blockade endangers the health of 1.5 million Palestinians living in the coastal strip.
They called on Israel and Egypt on Wednesday to open the border crossings with Gaza.
The blockade was imposed after Hamas militants seized control of Gaza in 2007. It has prevented Gazans from rebuilding following Israel’s military offensive last winter.
Israel says it limits influx of materials Hamas could use to make weapons.
The aid groups say it prevents hospitals from getting badly needed equipment.
