Actor-producer Rockline Venkatesh was in for a shock when he realised that an impostor had created a Facebook account in his name and was offering an entry into the industry to young women, with nefarious intent.

Though the impostor created the account around seven months ago, it came to light recently when one of the women contacted Mr. Venkatesh and narrated her experience. Apparently the impostor used the social networking site to lure women by offering roles in films with the prospect of earning lakhs of rupees. Once the women responded, he would get too close for comfort.

The impostor is said to be in his 20s and is rumoured to be an engineering student. However, the police are yet to confirm his identity.

Mr. Venkatesh told The Hindu : “I was shocked when I came to know that an account had been created in my name. I lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police.”
