General V.K. Singh

Former Army chief General V.K. Singh is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. After his association with Anna Hazare’s India Against Corruption in the recent past, Gen. Singh appears to have made up his mind to take the plunge and join the BJP, a few weeks ahead of the coming Lok Sabha polls.

BJP sources said the former Army chief is likely to join the party here on Saturday. Gen. Singh who has earlier shared the stage with the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at an ex-servicemen’s rally in Rewari in Haryana is reported to have met the BJP chief Rajnath Singh recently.

He is likely to be considered for a ticket from Rajasthan. “He has shown an inclination to contest from there. There is a fair chance that the party will consider him as a contestant,” party sources said.

Gen. Singh had caused a flutter when he revealed that he was offered Rs. 14 crore as bribe to clear the purchase of vehicles for the forces. He was also locked in a legal tussle with the Defence Ministry over a row regarding his age. He retired as Army Chief in mid-2012.

The BJP has seen former bureaucrats, including former Home Secretary R.K. Singh and former diplomat Hardeep Puri, coming into its fold in the past few weeks.

The Gen VK Singh may have a Track record. However, how do we know that everything this present Govt. does is in the Interest of the Nation. i would any day prefer a Soldier over these Politicians. The Gen did right only alligning with the BJP. Unless, he is part of the Power circle, he is helpless. And it is an old saying that Enemy's Enemy is a Friend.

I think ,BJP party has some magnet or things which attract the people to
join his party, that magnet is Narender modi, So why VK singh is come in
the house of the BJP party. He is not up to the level of the politics.

I think Modi is the role model of the bJP party that why he convene the
all people through his rally to join my corrupt party and I will help
you. That's why just the same as other politicians are in politics for.

protect his interests because he has done this thing many time to

I think he is self-serving. which is not good for the nation and for
the nation soldiers.I'm not fully sure that whether Singh joining the
BJP is a good thing or not. I have little regard for him.

V.K. Singh was pretty much the worst COAS to serve the armed forces. He faces charges leveled by both the government and the Indian Army over a wide range of issues from tapping phones to bribing NGOs. If all these weren't enough, now he stands to gain a political ticket from it? My belief in the BJP is starting to hit rock bottom.

How can an retired army chief can join a political party ans in my
opinion it is not acceptable. Not only the General V K Singh and it
should be for all retired bureaucrats. All bureaucrats and other top
officials are to work for the Government irrespective of the parties
and after retirement joining a political party may (I repeat may)
cause some doubt on the integrity. I think there is a rule which
prohibits officials joining employment immediately after retirement.
If that is the case how the officials can join / form political party.
If they want to serve people, I think there are many other ways than
joining political party.
