The Southern Zonal Council of the All India Lawyers Union, a pro-CPI (M) association, has demanded that Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P.D. Dinakaran who is facing allegations of land encroachments keep away from court proceedings.

In a statement, E.K. Narayanan, convener of the Southern Zonal Council comprising Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry said the report of a senior judge of the Karnataka High Court being manhandled during the strike was a matter of concern.

Agitations

He said that while extending support to the lawyers in the struggle for a corruption-free judicial system, the union was of the view that lawyers should abstain from those modes of agitation that adversely affected the dignity and esteem of both the legal profession and the judiciary.
