Workshop for transgenders

Students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management of PSG Institute of Management on Wednesday organised a self employment workshop on handcrafted jewellery making for transgenders. The workshop was attended by 20 transgenders from Coimbatore.

Taslima Nazreen, a transgender, spoke about the problems faced by transgenders in Coimbatore. She said that Coimbatore contributes about 48 % of the total working transgender community. Ms. Nazreen thanked the students for organising social inclusive programme for sexual minorities, providing them an equal platform on a par with others.

The participants were given training on making silk thread bangle jewellery. This was followed by mehendi designing session by transgender Sahithya for PGDM students. The function was presided over by PSGIM director R. Nandagopal.
