The Regional Passport Officer, Chennai, will be holding special passport mela on September 9 at the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra, Vellore. This was being organised to meet the public demand and to facilitate submission of applications for frequent travellers.
According to a press release, the Passport Seva Kendra will function on September 9 like any other normal working day. It will accept applications as per time slots allotted to the applicants. Approximately, 65 applicants are expected to benefit from this mela.
To take part in the mela, the applicants have to log on to the official website – www.passportindia.gov.in – register online, generate Application Registration Number (ARN), pay online fees and take appointment. Those participating in the mela should bring the printout of the ARN with appointment details to the office along with documents in originals and a set of self-attested photocopies.
Applications under fresh and re-issue categories only will be accepted. The appointments will be released on Wednesday at 2.30 p.m. Walk-ins, applications which are put on hold and refused tokens will not be entertained during the mela, the release added.
