School admissions under RTE begin

A total of 3,211 vacancies are available in private schools for admissions under the Right to Education Act for 2018-2019 in the district.

The RTE Act mandates 25% reservation for socially and economically backward classes in private schools.

There are 1,884 seats available in matriculation schools, and 1,327 for nursery schools. Parents may apply online seeking admissions under the quota reserved for economically and socially backward sections (www.dge.tn.gov.in).

Application forms are available at the offices of Chief Education officer, district education officer, district elementary education officer, assistant education officer, matriculation school inspector.

Where applications exceed the number of seats, admissions will be made based on lot system.

Applications received from HIV positive children, the disabled, children of transgenders, children of sanitation workers will be included for admissions before going for lot.

Online applications can be made from April 20 to May 18.
