Woman sentenced to life imprisonment

The Principal District Sessions Court here convicted and sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for the murder of a person with whom she was living.

According to Katterikuppam Police, S. Malar (47) and Subramani of Cuddalore were living together in Lingareddypalayam and working in a coconut groove near there. Both were alcoholics and each of them suspected the loyalty of the other.

On September 9, 2010, she threw a stone on Subramani’s head while he was sleeping. Katterikuppam police arrested the woman and charged her under Section 302 (Murder) of Indian Penal Code.

Principal District Judge P. Velmurugan held her guilty and sentenced her to life imprisonment.

He also imposed a fine of Rs. 1,250 on her.
