Security has been stepped up in the city in view of the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary on December 6. Police said vehicle checks and patrolling had been intensified in the city and its suburbs.

Security at check posts located on inter-State borders have been strengthened with armed police personnel posted round the clock. Crowded places had been brought under close monitoring and security gadgets would be put at important places, including places of worship and government offices. People entering the bus stand and Railway station are being subjected to frisking besides having their luggage scanned. Police also conducted checks in hotels and guesthouses and have intensified night patrolling.
