Union Territory witnesses slight dip in pass percentage

Schools in Puducherry achieved 88.08% and Karaikal secured 85.88%

The overall pass percentage in Plus Two examinations in Puducherry and Karaikal regions has witnessed a drop of 0.41 per cent when compared to the previous year.

Out of the 14,285 students, 12,533 have passed the exams this year with an overall pass percentage of 87.74 per cent against 88.15 per cent last year.

Announcing the results, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said schools in Puducherry region achieved 88.08 per cent against 88.44 per cent last year. Students in Karaikal region secured 85.88 per cent against 86.53 per cent last year.

As has been the case for several years, girls outshone boys in overall pass percentage boasting a figure of 90.95 against 90.83 last year while boys secured a pass percentage of 83.93 against 85 last year.

The results show that 34 private schools have registered 100 per cent pass percentage and nine Government schools above 90 per cent. A total of 74 students scored full marks in Commerce while 38 students scored full marks in Mathematics.

D. Martin of Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School bagged the first rank with 1,185 marks.

H. Gayathree of Sri Sankara Vidyalaya in Puducherry and M. Thahmeena Kathija of Nirmala Ranee Girls Higher Secondary in Karaikal shared the second rank with 1,183 marks.

B. Bhuvaneshwari of Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School and P. Albertina of St. Patrick Higher Secondary School shared the third rank with 1,182 marks.

Government schools

In government schools, the overall pass percentage has witnessed a drop of 0.45 per cent when compared with 2015.

C. Mohanapriya of Thiruvalluvar Government Girls Higher Secondary School has emerged as the top scorer in the Plus Two examinations under the government school category with 1,170 marks.

R. Seethalakshmi of Annai Sivagami Government Girls Higher Secondary School and S. Mohan of V. O. C Government Higher Secondary School secured the second and third ranks with 1166 and 1156 marks respectively.

A total of 74 students scored

full marks in Commerce and 38 in Mathematics
