Unaccounted cash of Rs. 25 lakh seized

Officials of a flying squad seized unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs.25 lakh from a car at Thirukanur near here on Wednesday. The flying squad intercepted a car proceeding from Villupuram to Puducherry.

Palaniappan, the car driver hailing from Maharajapuram in Villupuram told the officials that the vehicle belonged to a trader Selvaraj and he was taking Rs.25 lakh in cash after sale of urad dal at the Regulated Marketing Committee in Thirukanur.

The flying squad checked the documents and found receipt to the tune of Rs.40 lakh. However, Palaniappan could not account for the remaining Rs.15 lakh.
