Two officials of TWAD suspended

The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) has suspended an Assistant Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer in Cuddalore in connection with the death of three conservancy workers who were asphyxiated while clearing a block in a manhole on Monday.

Sources said Mariappan Vinodh Raja, Assistant Engineer, and Vijayakumar, Assistant Executive Engineer of TWAD, were suspended on charges of dereliction of duty.

K. Jayakumar (28), S. Velu (28) of Kudikankuppa, and S. Murugan (39) of Soriyankuppam were asphyxiated when they were clearing a block in a manhole near Mohini Bridge in the Thirupadiripuliyur police station limits on Monday.
