Transgender film fete under way in Puducherry

Some of the films screened in this festival are directed by transgenders .

A two-day transgender film festival was inaugurated here on Saturday.

The Sahodaran Community Oriented Health Development (SCOHD) Society & Progressive Writers Artists Association’s Puducherry Film Forum has organised the festival, which is under way at St. Antony Mahal, near Venkata Subba Reddiar square.

Film director M. Sivakumar and writer S. Tamilselvan were present at the inauguration. President of SCOHD Society K. Sheethal Naik presided.

The inauguration was followed by screening of two films ‘Mathi ennum manithanin maranam’ made by film editor B. Lenin and ‘Narthagi’ made by Vijayapadma.

Some of the films screened in this festival are directed by transgenders .

According to Naik, the purpose of this festival is to help the general public appreciate the creativity of the marginalised transgenders .
